I upgraded to a paid account and sent messages to 50 women. Half were replies to the messages I received and half were opening new conversations.

I attracted ZERO messages back. Even from the accounts offering sentiments like “I need you”.

I’ve tested a lot of scam websites over the years and the CasualX profiles feel more real. The photos are imperfect, the words on the bios have a human touch – and that’s not the case on scam websites.

There’s no point speculating too deeply, as the end result will be the same either way. If you’re a male user, you’re going to struggle to find women to speak to on CasualX.

Another notable feature is private photo albums, which other users can only lock if they’re granted by the owner to do so. Many hook-up apps use this feature so their users feel more empowered to upload saucy photos without exposing them to the whole world. The technology needed to introduce this feature is far from mind-blowing so it makes sense that CasualX would include it, especially since it markets itself as a hook-up app. With that said, CasualX doesn’t allow nudity in its private or public photos.

CasualX also allows you to verify your profile to prove that you are the person in your photos. This is particularly desirable in hook-up apps, which tend to be rife with scams and shady people. The technology for this feature isn’t particularly advanced either. You simply upload a photo of a government-issued ID and it’s verified manually by a CasualX staff member.

Most Reviewers Have the Same Criticisms of CasualX

If you read more external articles about CasualX, you’ll notice reviewers saying the same thing.

While CasualX has certain positive features, it also presents some drawbacks. Users often express difficulty in determining the number of active female users in their area. You can look at plenty of female profiles, but it's unclear how recently these members have used the app or whether they are still engaged.

However, the website has a number of limitations that makes it difficult for me to recommend it to anyone.

For starters, 321 Chat won’t let you message anyone who is offline. You can save users as ‘friends’ and that’ll allow you to see when they’re using the service. But you won’t be able to send them a message unless they’re logged on.

This makes it difficult to create lasting connections. Let’s say you’re enjoying a deep conversation but one of you has to go offline unexpectedly. In this situation, you won’t be able to reconnect until you’re both logged onto 321 Chat at the same time again. The only way around this is to swap contact details before one of you logs off. Bear in mind that many users choose to use a throwaway ‘Guest’ account, which would make it impossible to continue chatting with them once they’ve logged off.

It’s also impossible to search for users who are living in the same part of the world as you. Users can opt to put a flag next to their username to reveal what country they’re from, but that’s the only indication you’ll get about someone’s location.

If you want to chat with someone from New York City (for example), you’d need to manually check a user’s profile to see if they’ve listed their hometown. Or you could DM them and ask where they’re from. Either way, you’d need a giant stroke of luck to find someone in the same town as you. And it would take a minor miracle for you to end up meeting someone from 321 Chat in the real world.

The Interface is Extremely Dated, and Not in a Cute Nostalgic Way

321 Chat was created in 2002 – and the design of the website makes it look like it hasn’t been updated since then.

I encountered many bugs while testing the website and lost access to two accounts and the contacts I’d saved. The customer service team didn’t respond to my emails.

It’s possible to log onto 321 Chat as a guest. This would spare you the effort of creating an account, but you’d lose the ability to save other users as a friend. Creating an account is as simple as choosing a username and password, while sharing your age, gender and email address.

Upon doing so, you’ll be given a choice of 14 chat rooms.

These are:

That means if you click on ‘Adult chat’, you’re in the same room as people who clicked on the ‘Kid chat’ or the ‘Religion chat’! Everyone is in the same room with a different heading. Needless to say, this makes it harder to find someone willing to talk dirty with you.

The chat room itself is manic and random as you’d expect one with hundreds of users and no defined topic to be. During my tests, there were always moderators online ready to kick out users who didn’t follow the rules. But that’s the only proof I found that this website hadn’t been completely abandoned by its owners.

321 Chat Serves as a Reminder of What Great Technology Exists Elsewhere

It Would Appear That 4Club Uses Bots to Masquerade as Sex-Hungry Women

When testing dating websites, I always leave my profile blank for 24 hours. That means no photos and no bio. My hypothesis is that no genuine woman would bother to message an anonymous profile. So, if my blank profile receives messages, that’s a clear sign that a website is using bots to trick its users. This is usually done to trick people into upgrading to a paid membership or continue paying for their existing account. Anyway, my blank profile received eight messages in 24 hours.

Most scam websites would force their users to pay to respond to its messages, either by upgrading to a paid subscription or buying credits. 4Club does the former, but it goes one step further. You’ll also have to pay to read the messages you receive. That’s right! My inbox told me I had eight messages and I could see photos of the sexy women in the profiles that messaged me. But the message itself was obscured by an alert telling me to upgrade if I wanted to read my messages.

In the name of research, I paid $38 to upgrade to a VIP account for one month. And I was incredibly disappointed with what was revealed.

Not only had these accounts written the most basic messages, but some of them had written the exact same thing to me.

Three accounts had written: “Want to know more about your play level?”

Two more said: “You look great, care to chat?”

Another told me: “Would love to talk about your sexual preference. Write me!”

The technology is available for bots to deliver a realistic girlfriend experience in 2023. But it’s clear that 4Club has chosen not to invest in this. In fact, it would appear this website isn’t even trying to hide its use of bots once you’ve upgraded.

To top it off, I sent a message to all of these accounts and received no reply. I messaged another 50 profiles that hadn’t messaged me and received no replies. Once it has your money, 4Club turns into a virtual ghost town.

The profiles themselves are another giveaway. Each allows space for users to write a short bio and share information about themselves. However, of the dozens of profiles I checked, none had filled out any information at all. All the profiles were completely blank.
